The Art, Imagery and Design

The artwork across this site is part of the world of For The Different.

Every piece has been created, guided, or shaped by me, Jo Eckstein.

The work weaves together collage, photography, digital tools, and hand-built elements. Some pieces begin as physical objects. Others are born digital. Many live somewhere between.

I use a range of tools in this process, including AI assisted elements. These are never used as-is. They are adapted, layered, and composed intentionally.

This work exists within the edges, made with what is at hand, shaped with care, carrying weight beyond its materials.

Each choice, every symbol, every texture, and every colour carries meaning. There is philosophy beneath the image. Symbology. Magic. A language of its own.

Some photographs come from other artists; these are used with permission or under licence. The drawings in the Zine are by Felix, an artist within the For The Different community, and used with his permission.

A collage of hand-made zine elements and art materials arranged on a black background. Torn strips of cream parchment display typed phrases such as “We are The Different” and “The world wasn’t made for us.” A metal ruler and gold pen lie across the page. A small metal dish holds melted sealing wax with a wax seal stamp resting inside. A hand is carefully positioning a strip of words onto a printed image. Nearby are wax seals in burgundy, gold, and bronze, and scraps of text, tape, and paper.

It isn’t about polish or perfection.

It’s about belonging.
